Income-Restricted Housing & Chapter 40B Lottery
Local Residency & Employment
Many local residents and area workers assume their household income exceeds qualification thresholds for designated affordable housing. However, because Chapter 40B guidelines are benchmarked against Greater Boston’s Area Median Income (AMI), the allowable income ceilings encompass a broad range of working households:
1-Person Household: Maximum allowable annual income up to $96,000 / year
2-Person Household: Maximum allowable annual income up to $109,700 / year
3-Person Household: Maximum allowable annual income up to $119,100 / year
If you currently reside in Melrose, work for local municipal or business services, or commute via the MBTA Haverhill Line, we encourage you to review the full income schedules below and submit an application.
