From Vision to Reality

How Cedar Park One64 Delivers on Melrose's Housing Plan

The groundbreaking ceremony for Cedar Park One64 was a powerful moment for our team, but it also served as a celebration of the City of Melrose’s commitment to new housing development.

“The development will transform this land, that was previously used for off site parking into an opportunity for 80 households to either relocate within Melrose or move here and enjoy all of the amenities that we’re privileged to have here in this neighborhood and in the city.”

-Lori Massa, City of Melrose Director of Planning and Community Development

We were honored to have Lori Massa, Director of Planning and Community Development, speak at the event. She highlighted how this project directly contributes to the city's goals by providing 80 units of housing, including 20 that will be deed-restricted as affordable.

This project's alignment with the city's broader strategy for growth and accessibility is no accident. This site was specifically identified as a “New Opportunity Site” in Melrose’s Housing Production Plan, a document that outlines the city's long-term vision for increasing its housing stock.

Each new unit is counted on the Subsidized Housing Inventory (SHI), and the project as a whole represents a substantial step forward in the city's efforts to reach Safe Harbor and gain significant control over future Chapter 40B development.  Additionally, Cedar Park One64 is a key part of the cities strategic efforts to address a critical housing shortage. The 20 affordable units, will provide much-needed opportunities for individuals and families to live and thrive in Melrose.

This project's success serves as a powerful model for how future developments can contribute directly to the city’s housing goals while creating high-quality, sustainable communities. It demonstrates a shared vision between the public sector and private industry, turning a long-held objective into a tangible reality for the community. We are proud to play a role in this important work.
