Signing the Final Truss
A Celebration of Teamwork, Safety, and Community
Remember back when we celebrated finishing the steel podium and officially "went vertical"? (You can catch up on that milestone here!) Well, today we reached an even bigger milestone. We officially held our final Topping Out ceremony to mark the completion of the wood framing at the very top of the building!
Standing at the highest point of the structure, looking out at what we’ve built, it’s hard not to feel an overwhelming sense of pride. We are officially at full height.
A topping out ceremony is steeped in tradition, and one of our favorite parts was getting to leave a permanent piece of ourselves in the bones of this building. We brought out the sharpies and invited everyone to sign the final wood truss before it was nailed into place.
We signed our names, right alongside our incredible partners from Essex Builders, our general contracting team, and O’Sullivan Architects, our architecture firm. But most importantly, it was signed by the hands that are actually building this dream—the framing, plumbing, and excavation crews who are here on-site doing the heavy lifting every single day. Generations from now, those signatures will still be holding this place together.
Reaching the roof is a huge structural milestone, but what we are most proud of is how we got here. In construction, a million things can go sideways. Yet, we reached the top with zero major setbacks and no significant delays.
That doesn't happen by accident. It happens because the crew from Essex Builders is running a tight ship. Their leadership, both on-site and in the office, attention to safety, and coordination have kept everything moving forward seamlessly. We also want to express our sincere gratitude to every trade and contractor who has worked on the building so far. Their collective diligence, solid work ethic, and quality of craftsmanship are the real reasons we are celebrating today. Thanks to this entire team, we are right on track, on time, and building something that will last.
After the hard work was done, it was time to celebrate the best way we know how: a pizza party! We hosted the lunch on the 5th floor, in the exact footprint of what will eventually become our stunning community space, work from home lounge, and rooftop deck.
Looking around at the crew sitting on window openings eating pizza, it suddenly hit us: this is our very first community gathering here. Looking out at the view, it was so easy to picture future residents relaxing, laughing, and coming together in this exact spot. It felt incredibly poetic to christen the space with the people who built it.
View from the Roof Deck
The roof is on, the structure is tall, and our hearts are incredibly full. We've hit the peak, but we're nowhere near done. Next up: drying in the building, windows, and starting the interior spaces that future residents will live in for years to come.
Thank you again to everyone on this team. We couldn't ask for a better crew to bring this vision to life. Stay tuned—the best is yet to come!
And just for fun, months of work compressed to one minute
